MIUI 12 includes a new reading mode on Xiaomi phones: discover how it works.
With MIUI 12 already on the way to the first devices globally, Xiaomi continues to introduce news in the software that, over the next few months, will spread throughout its mobile catalog. One of the last to be discovered is the so-called “Reading Mode”, with which the company wants to encourage the owners of its terminals to use them to read, improving the reading experience through improvements on the screen.
This new mode, discovered by the people of XDA-Developers, is included in the code of the beta version of MIUI 12 ROM for China, and it is very likely that sooner or later it will end up in the global edition of the platform. Thanks to this code, it has been possible to discover what the new MIUI 12 reading mode really consists of–
Your Xiaomi mobile will help you read more comfortably
While for now the function is not active, it has been possible to check what its function will be once Xiaomi decides to bring this function to reality. Once activated, the “Paper” option will modify the colors and contrast of the screen to simulate the texture of a sheet of paper. In addition, the elements of the screen will be modified so that it appears that they are being reproduced in a electronic ink screen like the one we can find on devices like the Amazon Kindle.
At the moment, it has not been possible to deduce whether this function will end up reaching all Xiaomi phones with MIUI 12, or if, on the contrary, it is an exclusive utility destined only to some models of the brand, whether they are current or future terminals that have not yet been launched.
On the other hand, it has been discovered that this “Reading Mode” will come accompanied by adjustments that will allow modify the color temperature of the screen to suit the user. In this sense, they also include three color modes similar to those that we can find in OnePlus phones since the OnePlus 7 Pro introduced the so-called “Night Mode 2.0”. They are as follows:
All colors– Color saturation is not reduced, only a warm layer is added to enhance the reading experience.
Light colors: Color saturation is reduced to improve readability.
Black and white– The display becomes grayscale, like most electronic ink display devices.
We will have to wait until we see how long it takes Xiaomi to bring these new functions to the global version of MIUI 12, but we are definitely talking about functions that can be very convenient when using the brand’s devices as e-books. In addition, unlike what happens with the reading modes of other brands, everything points to the function integrated by Xiaomi it will not be limited to its use only in some applications, but once activated it will affect all equally.
